Local farmers are over halfway done with plant 2018
URSA, IL —
Farmers have had a late planting start so far this year.
Adams County Farm Bureau President Rick Edwards says West Central Illinois and Northeast Missouri are just over a week into planting season.
More than half of this year's crop is already in the ground.
Edwards says around 80 percent of corn and 50 percent of soybeans have been planted for this year.
“This year you know what usually is about a two-month window, is basically been compacted down to a two-week window of corn plant and soybean planting. There has been a lot of soybeans planted,” said Edwards.
Edwards says technology has helped area farmers get their crops planted faster than in years past.
