QUINCY, IL — Organizers for the St. Jude Quincy to Peoria Run hosted this year's kick off event at BoodaLu Steakhouse Thursday evening.
Entering its 15th year, Thursday was a chance for past runners and potential participants to hear stories, ask questions, and even sign up for the run.
Run coordinator Becky Haskins started out as a runner about seven years ago.
"Started running back in 2012, and I saw the St. Jude run I was always interested," Haskins said. "So in 2014, a friend of mine said 'hey, I'm doing this, join me,' and the rest is history.
"So my favorite memory was probably between Rushville and Astoria, we're running at 2, 3, 4 a.m.," runner Caden Miller said. "You really get a runners' high when you're going with no sleep.
Runners are required to raise more than $1,000.
The run is August 2-3.
KHQA's very own Chad Douglas plans to participate in this years' event.
KHQA is a proud sponsor of the run.
