US Postal Service honors 50 years of 'Sesame Street' with new stamps

    PORTLAND, Ore. (KATU) - The U.S. Postal Service plans to release stamps featuring the “Sesame Street” characters in 2019 to honor the show’s 50th anniversary.

    Tuesday, USPS announced it plans to release three additional stamp subjects for 2019: “Sesame Street,” Tyrannosaurus Rex, and Spooky Silhouettes.

    USPS says it’s honoring “Sesame Street” as “one of the most influential and beloved children’s television shows.”

    The stamp art features 16 of the Muppets from “Sesame Street” including Big Bird, Ernie, Bert, Cookie Monster, Rosita, The Count, Oscar the Grouch, Abby Cadabby, Herry Monster, Julia, Guy Smiley, Snuffleupagus, Elmo, Telly, Grover and Zoe.

    The stamps were designed by Art Director Derry Noyes.

    USPS has not said specifically when the stamps will be released.
