Western Illinois Correction Center water payment received
MOUNT STERLING, IL —
Illinois is now more current on their water bill in Mount Sterling but the state is still in the red with the utility.
Mount Sterling City Administrator Vada Yingling tells KHQA a payment of $184,272 for the Western Illinois Correction Center's delinquent water bills was received Thursday morning from the state.
Yingling says phone calls to Illinois State Representative Norine Hammond and Illinois State Senator Jil Tracy seemed to have helped the payments move forward.
The most recent payment from Illinois pays the water bills through June.
The Western Illinois Correctional Center still owes Mount Sterling for the months of July, August and September - a total of $226,775.
