Vehicle fire causes play area at McDonald's to be evacuated

QUINCY IL — Quincy Fire Department responded to a vehicle on fire at the Broadway McDonald's drive thru near the Quincy Mall at 9 a.m. Friday morning.

A witness on the scene said he heard a loud explosion before the car caught fire at the end of the drive thru lane near the play area at the front of the restaurant.

The witness said the driver exited the vehicle immediately.

Employees were seen removing children and customers from the play area.

QFD extinguished the fire within minutes of arriving on the scene and no one was injured.

A tow truck removed the vehicle from the scene.
