Two men arrested following SE Iowa pursuit

    On Tuesday, February 26th, Steven Spoores Jr. was taken into custody for charges stemming from the pursuit on February 19th.

    Spoores Jr. faces multiple charges along with Tuesday's new charges of possession of controlled substance-methamphetamine.

    The Lee County Sheriff's Office posted on their Facebook page on the 22nd that Spoores Jr. was wanted for Assault, Eluding, False Information to a Peace Officer and numerous traffic tickets.

    Police say Spoores was the driver of a white Grand Prix that was chased into Keokuk last week.

    David Markell was also arrested Tuesday for harboring a wanted subject.

    Both Spoores Jr. and Markell are in the Lee County Jail.

    Assisting us with this arrest was the Lee County Narcotics Task Force and Agents from the Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement.
