UPDATE: Northbound 61 reopened after tractor-trailer fire

One lane of traffic on northbound Highway 61/24 split has been reopened as of early Saturday morning.

All northbound lanes were closed due to a massive tractor-trailer fire which broke out around 10:30 p.m. Friday.

Traffic on the highway was at a standstill for nearly two hours.

The tractor-trailer was hauling steel pallets and refrigeration compressors.

No injuries were reported in the fire.

The Palmyra Fire Department, Marion County Sheriff Department and Missouri Highway Patrol responded to the scene.

Highway Patrol will handle the investigation and KHQA will provide you with more details when they become available.

Crews were called to the scene of a tractor-trailer fire northbound in the area of the HWY 61 - 24 split around 10:45 Friday night.

No injuries were reported.

According to the Marion County Sheriff Department, the Missouri Highway Patrol will handle the investigation.
