"The Charlie Card" raises $1,150 for The Blessing Cancer Center

The Charlie Card gives cancer patients positive words of encouragement and helps raise money for their care at the same time (KHQA/Marcus Espinoza).

Last November, KHQA brought you the story of 8-year-old Charlie Ray.

He came up with the idea to sell what he calls a "Charlie Card" to help cancer patients in need.

On Thursday, he presented a check for$1,150 to Blessing Hospital's Cancer Center.

Ray said he decided to do it because it was the right thing to do.

"You just have to believe in yourself and try to help people," said young Ray.

All the money raised by Charlie and his friends will help pay daily expenses for cancer patients, such as gas cards and utilities.
