Tackling Thanksgiving travel

Tackling Thanksgiving travel

A whole lot of turkey wishbones and travel records are expected be broken this week.

Triple A is predicting more than 54 million American will travel this Thanksgiving, which is the most since 2005.

With that many cars on the road, it's important to follow these tips...

Wear your seatbelt.

Put your phone down while driving.

Follow all traffic laws

Don't drink and drive.

"The effects of these crashes can have a really profound impact on peoples lives. If it's a bad one then as the holidays come around they have that memory of that crash occurring. No one wants to be apart of a crash, no one wants to lose their life in a crash, and no one wants to be the person that caused a crash that causes someone else to lose their life," says Sgt. Eric Brown with the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The Thanksgiving holiday period is Wednesday, November 21 to Sunday, November 25.

During that time Missouri State Highway Patrol Troopers will be participating in Operation C.A.R.E., enforcing all traffic laws.
