Suspect sics dog on sheriff deputies during warrant arrest

    On Friday, February 22nd, Pike County, Missouri Prosecuting Attorney Alex Ellison has charged Pettis with the additional charges of the class B felony of assault in the second degree of a law enforcement officer and the class A misdemeanor of animal abuse.

    Honorable Milan Berry has set Pettis’ bond on the new charges at $50,000 cash only.

    The Frankford Police Department, the Pike County Sheriff's Office and the East Central Drug Task Force responded to a search warrant at 515 Brown Street Street in Frankford on Thursday.

    During the search, officers seized a large amount of illegal narcotics and evidence of distribution of narcotics and the property owner was arrested.

    As officers approached the residence, the property owner noticed their advance and unleashed a large dog. A deputy had to defend himself from the dog and fired one gunshot, fatally wounding the dog.

    Kasey Pettis has been charged with Delivery of a Controlled Substance, a Class C felony. Pettis' bond has been set for $10,000 cash-only. He remains in custody at this time.
