Update on April 12th: The person who died in the Hannibal Motel Fire earlier this week has now been identified.

Marion County Coroner Richard Jones told KHQA Thursday that Sharon Hale, 77 died for smoke inhalation.

Firefighters responded to the Country Hearth Inn on Mark Twain Avenue shortly before 1 p.m., on Wednesday.

Crews were able to put out the fire in less than ten minutes but were on scene for most of the afternoon.

One person is dead after a motel fire in Hannibal Wednesday afternoon.

Firefighters responded to the Country Hearth Inn on Mark Twain Avenue shortly before 1 p.m.

They found found heavy smoke and fire in an occupied room.

According to a news release from the Hannibal Fire Department, firefighters extinguished the blaze in about 10 minutes.

They found one person in the room who was transported to the hospital by ambulance.
