Illinois voters will choose a republican nominee for Attorney General when they head to the polls this month.

DuPage County Board Member and Attorney Gary Grasso is running against Champaign-Urbana attorney Erika Harold.

Grasso visited Quincy Thursday.

KHQA asked him why he wants to become Illinois' next Attorney General.

"I've worked, and I'm a consensus builder," he answered. "I believe in compromise. Those are not terrible words in this business and so I have the experience and the legal acumen to be the next Attorney General."

Eight Democrats are running for Illinois' next Attorney General.

Current Attorney General Lisa Madigan does not plan to run for re-election.
