Quincy City Council looks at liquor licenses
One Restaurant Bar and Grill requested a special permit that would allow it to operate as a nightclub.
That designation would allow One to stay open until 3 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
Some council members raised concerns about whether One would be a gaming parlor or nightclub.
The Council decided to send the request back for review to find out if a separate license would be needed for gaming clubs.
The city also plans to take a closer look at expanding nightclubs out of the downtown area.
"He thinks the special permit requirements should be universal across the board, and currently that's not the case for the M1, M2 industrial districts," City planner Chuck Bevelheimer said. "That will be a recommendation that we will be making to the planning commission to consider that."
Monday also was the first reading of the city's tax levee.
State law requires police and fire pensions to be 90 percent funded by 2045.
