QUINCY, IL — Hundreds of Quincy Public School students will attend two new elementary schools for the first time as the new semester kicks into gear this week.
QPS administrators said they're monitoring classroom sizes at the new K-5 grade schools. Currently classroom sizes at the new school’s range between 16 and 25 students.
"Currently we have some classes that already have a co-teaching situation so in classrooms where we have students that have an IEP or and Individual education plan,” said QPS Student Services Director Carol Frericks. “We have two teachers in the classrooms working with that class of students.
The new schools also have support staff that specialize in certain academic areas to provide assistance to students.
