Marshals were looking for Thompson not because he was in trouble; instead, it was part of the Justice for Victims Trafficking Act, KHQA news confirmed on Friday.
The act allows law enforcers to use their resources in a nationwide network to find missing people.
Since 2015, U.S. Marshals have found 2,300 missing people.
