Orionid Meteor Shower peaks this weekend
You won't want to miss this year's Orionid Meteor Shower as conditions are favorable for viewing this astronomical event. The Orionid Meteor Shower peaks Saturday night through the early morning hours Sunday. While the forecast calls for clear skies overnight Saturday, a heavy coat may be required. Temperatures are expected to dip into the upper 20s. These cold temperatures and lack of clouds should allow for a good view of the nearly 10-20 meteors per hour. Although skies are likely to remain cloud-free, the near full moon will make viewing slightly harder. The meteors are likely to start in the southeastern sky, but may be viewed throughout the sky with the naked eye.
