Old school house fire in Marcelline, Illinois

Ursa Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 2439 N Hwy 96 around 1:00 Saturday afternoon.

The old school house in Marcelline, IL was fully engulfed in flames.

Ursa Fire Chief Terry Fuller Jr. says it took crews nearly two and a half hours to get the fire under control.

Mendon Fire Department, Loraine Fire Protection District and Lima Tioga Fire Protection District assisted.

Fuller says the building was in the process of demolition.

No injuries were reported.

The Illinois Department of Transportation and Adams County Deputies set up barricades on Hwy 96 to redirect traffic.
