Novinger home engulfed by flames

NOVINGER, Mo. — Fire fighters responded to a large house fire in Novinger Thursday night at 408 Marion Avenue.

Initial reports indicate that the fire was called in by a neighbor who noticed smoke just before 9:30p.m. The neighbor told emergency personnel that four people live in the home, but they didn't know if anyone was home when the fire started.

The neighbor tried to discern whether or not anyone was in the home but was overtaken by smoke following a loud explosion.

Adair County fire fighters requested mutual aid from the La Plata fire department and surrounding agencies.
