How to properly measure snowfall
Interact with KHQA during a winter weather event.
All you need is a measuring device.
There are several surfaces that work best for measuring snowfall.
They include wood surfaces such as picnic tables, decks or even shortly cut grass.
The location of these surfaces is also important to getting an accurate measurement.
Avoid locations under trees or eaves of buildings.
Areas that typically produce snow drifts should be avoided when taking measurements.
The perfect time to take your measurement is after the snow has stopped falling.
Record that number to the nearest tenth of an inch and send it to KHQA through any of our social media sites or go to KHQA.com/ChimeIn to submit photos!
