Man charged for Making a Terrorist Threat

    Adams County State’s Attorney Gary Farha, in cooperation with Adams County Sheriff Brian Vonderhaar, has charged Richard L. Hood with Making a Terrorist Threat.

    On February 20, 2019, immediately following of a court proceeding on other pending charges, Mr. Hood made statements overheard by courthouse personnel and staff constituting threats of harm to the community. Based on the nature of these statements and other evidence obtained by the Adams County Sheriff’s Department, charges were immediately filed and Mr. Hood was lodged in the Adams County Jail.

    Mr. Hood has been charged with one count of Making a Terrorist Threat, a Class X felony, punishable by 6 to 30 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections. A prison sentence in this case is mandatorily consecutive to any prison sentence in Mr. Hood’s other pending charges. Bond was initially set in the amount of $1,000,000.
