Macomb’s first ever “Macomb Pride Fest” is coming to Chandler Park on April 27th from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
This family-friendly, free event will feature performers, vendors, presentations by advocates and community leaders, booths, food, activities, and a Drag Show in the afternoon as the capstone event.
According to Jordan Davidson, Macomb Pridefest Drag Show Director, “Pride is about embracing your individuality against all opposition. For your individuality is a beauty to behold; a light to shine upon the world.”
According to Dannie Kyle, Macomb PrideFest Organizer and President of the WIU College Democrats, "following the wonderful outpouring of support and acceptance at the Rally for Love I organized with WIU in November, I think it is important to keep showing the area that Macomb and McDonough county stand by its LGBTQIA Community."
This grassroots event is courtesy of The Democratic Women of McDonough County in partnership with the WIU Democrats and WIU’s UNITY.
Festival participants are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets for comfort during the event.
Updates and weather announcements will be on the event’s Facebook page. Questions may be directed to (309) 333-8801 or email demwomen.micl@gmail.com.
