Local health center wears red to raise awareness
A sea of red hopes to rake in a lot of green at a local healthcare provider.
Staff at SIU Center for Family Medicine in Quincy wore red last week to raise awareness about the imporantance of community health centers.
The hope is to keep federal money flowing into these centers.
Health centers offer behavioral health, chronic disease management and other services.
"By having regular access to primary care, it reduces your ER visits, it reduces inpatient utilization, chronic diseases are better managed by the medical staff," said Diane Hughes.
Health centers such as SIU's accept all patients, regardless of ability to pay.
