Knapheide donates gifts to Illinois Veterans Home
Knapheide employees and family donated gifts to veterans at the Illinois Veterans Home Wednesday.
Their goal is to honor those who have served the country.
Knapheide officials say in the past they usually sponsored this event for Sycamore Senior Center, but that center has since closed.
They picked the Vets Home as its replacement.
It started with 40 names and then grew to more than 85 gifts.
"I cried the last two days, I'm passionate about taking care of our veterans and appearently the Knapheide employees and family are too because our response to this has been really overwhelming," stated Debbie Pursifull with Knapheide.
Santa made a visit to help deliver those gifts to residents at the home, but one particular resident's request was unique.
"I asked for two million dollars, one million for the activity fund, and one million dollars to the Activity Flower Fund which is a therapy program," said VA resident George Herendeen.
Knapheide employees and friends also donated board games and hot cocoa to the center.
