A Keokuk woman is now dead after being struck by a vehicle outside of Keokuk Tuesday morning.
Lee County Medical Examiner Bill Young confirms with KHQA that a 46-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene after being struck by a mini van in the 2500 block of Hilton Road near Keokuk.

Mid-afternoon Tuesday, Keokuk High School Principal Adam Magliari posted a statement on Facebook identifying the individual:
Dear KCSD families,
It is with great sadness that I inform you of the sudden death of one of our staff members at Hawthorne Elementary. Mrs. Kirsten Wrieden, a 1st grade teacher at our school, was involved in a pedestrian/vehicle accident and passed away early this morning.
Additional support was made available today to meet with students who knew Mrs. Wrieden. We will continue to have additional support available in the upcoming days and weeks as needed. All of us at Keokuk High School extend our deepest sympathy to Mrs. Wrieden’s family and friends.
