Hannibal Riverfront development is well underway.

After starting demolition in mid-November, construction crews are making progress in America's Hometown.

"Riverfront renovations are right on schedule," said Mary Lynne Richards with Hannibal Parks & Recreation.

Richards said the townspeople have paid close attention to the progress.

"We have this flood wall right here and people go up there and they're able to watch the construction. We've had a lot of interest, people really want to see what's going on," said Richards.

Project engineer Mark Bross with Klingner & Associates spoke about the work being done this week.

"What you're seeing right now is they're moving a lot of dirt from the old Nipper Park to the existing marina, those two locations are gonna essentially swap places," said Klinger.

Richards says this entire project has been a long-time coming.

"We've been talking about this for years and it's really only going to take about a year to do, so that's amazing, by this September, you're going to see a brand new riverfront," said Richards.

Richards said unless there is heavy flooding, she expects this project to be wrapped up by September.
