Hannibal man attempts escape from custody
A Hannibal man has another charge added to his list.
Robert Branch is now charged with Felony Attempted Escape from Custody.
Marion County Prosecutor David Clayton sent out a release Friday morning.
Branch was arrested on his most recent charges, child sexual molestation, and was taken to the Monroe County Jail due to a conflict with the Marion County Sheriff's Department.
Allegedly, during the booking process, Branch tried to escape but was promptly detained.
Now Branch faces an E felony charge of Attempted Escape from Custody. It carries a range of punishment from 2 to 4 years in prison, or up to 1 year in jail, or a fine up to $10,000 or a combination. The defendant remains in custody on a $100,000 cash only bond.
