Around 10 p.m. on Monday, Hannibal Fire Department responded to 608 North Hawkins Avenue for reports of a structure fire. Upon arrival, first responders witnessed heavy flames coming from the front and roof of the home. Crews were able to quickly knock down the bulk of the flames within ten minutes. A mother and her children were home at the time of the fire, luckily they were able to make it out unharmed. Frigid temperatures made fighting the fire somewhat difficult for crews. The cause of the fire is still unknown and being investigated. KHQA will continue to bring you updates as more information is learned.
