A new session of Mermaid School at the Hannibal Aquatic Center has been announced.

The first session starts June 25 and the class filled up very quickly. Jenna McDonald, Hannibal Aquatics Center director, said a second session has been added for July 30-Aug. 3.

The class is 10 to 10:45 a.m. Monday through Friday.

There are only 10 spots per class and there are two instructors and a lifeguard on duty during the class.

A mermaid fin is required for class. Participants may provide their own fin, rent a fin or purchase a fin through Parks & Recreation.

Swimmers will learn how to safely use their mermaid tails while participating in this five day course. During each 45-minute lesson, mermaids will have lots of fun activities incorporated in the class: fluke splashes, core rolls, and some synchronized swimming moves. Must be at least 6 years of age and be able to swim in the shallow end of the pool unassisted.

More information is available from the Hannibal Parks & Recreation website, or by calling 573-221-0154.
