Grand Prix of Karting to return to Quincy in 2019

The 2018 Grand Prix of Karting in Quincy is now one for the record books.

Organizer Terry Traeder said he had hoped for 200 racers for this year's event.

However, it ended up attracting more than 300 racers.

The race started again this year after a 17-year absence.

Trader's father, Gus, ran the Grand Prix for more than 30 years in Quincy.

Gus passed away in 2016.

He's buried across the street from South Park in Greenmount Cemetery.

A large checkered flag could be seen at his grave site this weekend.
