Governor Parson makes a stop in Hannibal to promote Proposition D
HANNIBAL, MO —
Missouri Governor Mike Parson made a stop in Americas Hometown Friday to encourage Missourians to vote yes for Proposition D.
Proposition D is listed on the November ballot and promises safer roads and streets.
If the Proposition passes the motor fuel tax will increase by two and one-half cents per gallon annually.
"We haven't done anything for 22 years and the situations not going to get better,” Governor Parson said. “It is either we do it or we don’t but I really think if the voters in the state of Missouri if we give them the information and if we be honest with them and tell were how were going to do it and how we are going to spend the money, I think that they are going to support it at the end of the day."
If the proposition passes, it will generate an additional $665,813 in new money for Marion County alone.
If passed the proposition will go into effect July 1, 2019.
