Funds being raised for new veterans memorial in Hannibal

Artist Rendering: New Veterans Memorial

Right now - $60,000 is being raised to build a brand new veterans memorial in Hannibal.

It would sit at the Cardiff Hill Overlook.

The path to the memorial will consist of bricks honoring veterans.

And the bell from the U.S.S Hannibal will be displayed at the top.

Ronn Pasia, an army veteran, says this memorial will mean a lot to veterans and the community.

"I want people in this country to remind themselves, to remind our kids what it's all about. It didn't come free, it cost. It cost a lot of blood, men and women alike and they should be reminded each day and told about this structure," said Pasia.

The Hannibal Parks and Recreation Department and Veterans Service Committee are raising the funds solely by donations.
