Police say father stabs son on Father's Day


The Quincy Police Department responded to a disturbance involving a knife at a residence in the 1700 block of Sycamore St. in Quincy Sunday afternoon.

Officers said crews responded around 2:24 p.m., to the residence with three people inside.

According to police, a male victim was found inside with a puncture wound to the upper shoulder/chest area and a laceration to the forehead.

The victim was transported to Blessing Hospital by Adams County Ambulance.

Police said Jay D. Schroder, 62, of Quincy was confirmed the suspect and taken to Adams County Jail.

He is charged with aggravated unlawful restraint, aggravated battery with a weapon, and aggravated domestic battery.

A female victim, 59, did not have any injuries and refused medical treatment.

Schroder was taken to the Adams County Jail.

Schroder appeared in Adams County Court Monday.

Schroder was charged with aggravated battery, aggravated unlawful restraint, and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

Bond was set at $25,000 with conditions of no contact, direct or indirect, with the victim and he must stay 1,000 ft away from the victim and residence.

Schroder must also wear a GPS electronic surveillance monitor.

Schroder next court appearance is scheduled for June 27th.
