UPDATE: One dead, 3 seriously injured following vehicle crash in McDonough County

A fatal car crash occurred on Highway 41 in McDonough County, south of Bushnell, Illinois and half a mile south of North 1700th Road shortly after 10 a.m. on Tuesday.

According to a crash report from Illinois State Police, Ray Etter of Bushnell was traveling southbound on IL Route 41 at 1700N when he lost control on the icy road, crossed the center line and hit another vehicle that was traveling northbound.

The driver of the vehicle, Ray Etter of Bushnell, was ejected and pronounced deceased on the scene by McDonough County Coroner Eric Jameson.

Campbell and all the occupants of the second vehicle (Steven Krull and Christopher Laktas, both of Bardolph) were transported to McDonough District Hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the second vehicle, Steven Palmer of Bardolph, Illinois was life-flighted to OSF St. Francis Hospital in Peoria.

The crash report states that both Campbell and Etter were not wearing seatbelts.

IL 41 south of Bushnell was closed for approximately six hours following the crash.
