Fallen officers memorialized in Quincy

Officers wear black and blue bands on their badges as a symbol for fallen comrades.

Officers who have fallen in the line of duty were honored Tuesday morning in Quincy.

This is all a part of National Peace Officer Memorial Day.

Officers were remembered from as far back as the 1800s.

Quincy Police Chief Robert Copley says officers come in every morning to do a job.

"Our job is not to take lives. It's unfortunate that every officer knows that that's a possibility... or it's a possibility they may lose their lives," said Chief Copley.

This is also the first time Missouri officers have participated in Quincy's ceremony.
