An American Idol winner from Kansas City plans to return to the Show-Me State this Friday.

David Cook is set to perform at Delmar Hall in St. Louis this Friday.

It's been 10 years since he won American Idol, but he's busier than ever.

Cook is releasing a new music EP this Friday called "Chromance."

"This last year has been a buildup for this week," he explained. "It's surreal."

His new music is available for pre-order on iTunes, GooglePlay and Amazon.

Friday's release date also coincides with the start of his tour at Delmar Hall in St. Louis.

"Anybody who comes to one of my shows, we definitely don't operate on a script," he said. " Every show is going to be a little different. I want my shows to be unique to that night and that crowd."

The Kansas City native says he's excited to kick off his tour in the Show-Me State - an area that played an important role in his music.

"It's the middle of the country. You get a little big of everything."

By the way, American Idol returns Sunday, March 11.

You can find it on ABC by watching KHQA 7.2 at 7 p.m. central time
