UPDATE: Eastbound lanes on Mark Twain Bridge now open

UPDATE: 10:31 p.m.

Illinois State Police released preliminary information in regarding the crash.

A 2012 Freightliner Sprinter Van traveling eastbound on I-72 at mile post 0 lost control and struck a 1997 Toyota 4runner causing injury to the driver of the 4runner, Kaiser Falk, 22 of Plainville, Illinois. The van driver, 23-year-old Sam Douglas of Quincy, Illinois was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid accident.

UPDATE: 7:30 p.m.

The I-72 Eastbound lanes on the Mark Twain Bridge in Marion County are now open following a multi-vehicle crash.

The crash was reported at 4:48 p.m., Friday.

Traffic was at a standstill for more than an hour.

All lanes on the bridge were reported back open just before 7 p.m. Friday.

KHQA's Lynsey Whitaker was on the scene and spotted at least 8 vehicles involved.

The crash was reported at 4:48 p.m., Friday, and the closure is expected to last 3 hours.

Traffic is backed up on the Missouri side.
