Crews respond to Hannibal motel fire on Mark Twain Avenue

A closer look at the Best Way Inn where a fire broke out late Thursday night.

UPDATE: Friday, November 9 - 4:30am.

An investigation is now underway after a fire at a motel in Hannibal.

The fire broke out just after 11:30 Thursday night at the Best Way Inn at 612 Mark Twain Avenue.

Firefighters took about ten minutes to knock out multiple fires in a detached portion of the motel.

Just three weeks ago, firefighters responded to a similar fire at the Best Way Inn.

"The building inspector is in contact with the building owner and letting him know that it has to be secured," says Fire Chief Mike Benjamin.

Firefighters say no one was in the detached building at the time of the fire, and no one was hurt while putting the fire out.



Hannibal Firefighters are on scene of a reported structure fire that broke out at the Best Way Inn late Thursday night.

The hotel is located at 612 Mark Twain Avenue.

Witnesses said they saw heavy smoke coming from the building.

KHQA's David Amelotti is on scene and confirms the Hannibal Police Department is now conducting a preliminary investigation.

Three weeks ago crews responded to the Best Way Inn for a fire that was later ruled as incendiary in nature.
