Crews respond to car crash in Quincy, driver flees scene

Crews responded to a crash Monday mid-morning at 1139 N. 12th Street.

Quincy Fire Department and Quincy Police arrived on scene to a car that had crashed into a house.

Ameren Illinois is also on scene shutting off gas.

The fire department tells KHQA that the electricity to the house has been shut off and the house was evacuated.

Quincy Police say the driver of the car ran after crashing into the home and has not yet been caught.

The vehicle was traveling down Cedar and was trying to slow down to avoid another car and the car slid and hit the house.

Street is currently blocked on N. 12th from Spruce to Cherry and one block down from Cedar.

At 11:05, neighbors were allowed to go back in their homes but electricity is still shut off for a while to make sure the house hit isn't filled with gas.
