Quincy, ILL. — KHQA is once again a proud sponsor of the St. Jude Quincy to Peoria Run.
The run is set to happen the first weekend in August, but organizers are trying to get more people to join the run.
This is the 15th year for the Quincy to Peoria run, and KHQA's Chad Douglas is inviting all of you to take part.
Adam Duesterhaus is with the St. Jude Quincy to Peoria Run.
"It's 135 miles on a map, but you're running relay style. It's not just you running. It's a team effort. You've done this before, so you run as little or as much as you want. I've run as much as 34 miles one year. Some people run a mile. It really depends on your ability...what you're comfortable with." said Duesterhaus.
What about those people who say this is such a great cause, and I want to be able to help, but I'm not a runner?
"You know, we run as fast as the slowest person...but not slowest, as in speed, but whoever's out there and their ability. This is not a race. We don't call this the St. Jude Race," said Duesterhaus.
Do you train for this?
"It's about the kids. It's about the fundraising efforts. We run for those that can't. It sounds cliche, but it really is what we're out there for," said Duesterhaus.
If you feel like you can't get out there and run, or volunteer, or are busy that weekend, you can also donate money to the cause.
If you have any questions, or would like more information about the St. Jude Quincy to Peoria Run, the kickoff event is Thursday, March 14th.
It's from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Boodalu Steakhouse in Quincy.
All of the runners raise at least $1,000 to be able to run.
Chad is running again this year.
