Cadan's Carnival comes to an end

9th Annual 'Cadan's Carnival' takes place at the Knights of Columbus in Quincy.

It's the last Cadan's Carnival fundraiser in Quincy.

The event spreads awareness and raises money for infants suffering from CDH or Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia.

The carnival honors Cadan Frericks who passed away from the disorder.

Life expectancy has doubled for those suffering from the disorder since the carnival began nine years ago.

Over $125,000 has been raised for St. Louis Children's Hospital to date.

"The survival rates have doubled since Cadan was born, and the survival rates of the ECMO machine, which is the heart and lung bypass machine that the sickest babies go on, that's gone from about 20 percent to 70 or 80 percent," said Tiffany Frericks, event organizer and mother of Cadan.

While this is the last year for the grand carnival, Tiffany Frericks says she stills plans on holding smaller events to continue the fight.
