Beardstown school bomb threat found "not credible"
The Beardstown MS/HS District Administration became aware of a handwritten bomb threat Thursday evening.
The Beardstown Police Department, Cass County Sherriff’s Office and the Illinois Secretary of State Bomb Squad conducted a search of the entire campus with officers and bomb-sniffing dogs.
In a press release, Superintendent Ron Gilbert says the search resulted in “no credible” threat to the safety of any of our students or staff.
School officials say student and staff safety is the most important concern and every precaution possible was taken to ensure the campus remains safe.
The search was conducted from 8:15 p.m. and lasted until 11:15 p.m.
No students were at risk and all school activities are able to resume as usual.
Beardstown CUSD #15 thanked all the law enforcement for the timely response.
