All Quincy departments face cuts through proposed budget plan
Quincy Mayor Kyle Moore's Administration released its plan to tackle the city's fiscal budget crisis on Monday.
The city proposes cutting 3.8 percent in all departments.
That's if Moore's budget proposal would be the final version.
The budget plan also proposes neighborhood enhancement projects and body cameras for the Quincy Police Department.
Mayor Moore said Monday night the goal of this budget was to have the city live within its means.
"We're going to continue to work on that," Mayor Moore said. "This isn't a case of Mayor's office verse Council. It's just a big decision. We made the budget based on revenues we had available at the time in order to have a structurally balanced budget or as much as we could. We decided not to fill positions that would have retirements next year."
Moore said the city will begin its official budgetary process with a budget hearing and departmental hearing. The public is encouraged to attend.
