Adams County ICE investigation leads to eight federal indictments
In July and August of this year, officers with the West Central Illinois Task Force, Quincy Police Department, and the Adams County Sheriff's Office began an investigation of several individuals who were distributing Methamphetamine ICE in the Adams County area.
The investigation led to controlled purchases and seizures from the following Quincy residents:
- Leshawn E. Stanbridge, age 32
- Colton D. Parsons, age 22
- Casey W. Lierly, age 24
The three subjects on charges of Distribution of Methamphetamine in excess of 5 grams.
On August 13th, Kyle J. Bergman, 31 of Quincy, was stopped and was found to be in possession of a loaded .380 caliber Taurus handgun and approximately 53 grams of Methamphetamine ICE.
Officers found the firearm to be stolen.
Officers executed search warrants at two separate locations following the stop and located four additional firearms, two of which were reported stolen.
The firearms consisted of an AR-15, .223 caliber rifle, a Ruger .44 magnum revolver, a Rossi .357 magnum revolver, and a High Standard .22 caliber revolver. This seizure led to Bergman being indicted on Federal charges of Possession with Intent to Deliver 50 grams or more of Methamphetamine, Possession with Intent to Deliver 50 grams or more of Methamphetamine, Possession of a Firearm during, and in relation to a Drug Trafficking Crime, and Possession of a Firearm by a Felon.
On August 17th, a search warrant was conducted at 2112 Rainbow Lane in Quincy.
Officers located approximately 11 pounds of Methamphetamine ICE and approximately 8 pounds of Cannabis.
The following Quincy residents were arrested:
- John B. Varley, age 40
- Everett J. Humphrey, age 60
- Everett E. Humphrey, age 30
This seizure led to the issuance of Federal Indictments for Varley and Everett E. Humphrey on charges of Possession with Intent to Deliver 500 grams or more of Methamphetamine and Conspiracy to Deliver 500 grams or more of Methamphetamine. Everett J. Humphrey was charged in Adams County Court with Manufacture or Delivery of 900 or more grams of Methamphetamine and Manufacture or Delivery of Cannabis, 2000-5000 grams.
Officers observed a vehicle leave the residence which was believed to be involved in drug trafficking activities.
Officers maintained surveillance on the vehicle which led to a traffic stop near Astoria Illinois.
The stop was conducted by the Fulton County Sheriffs Office K-9 Unit. Seized during the stop was approximately 8 ounces of Methamphetamine ICE and approximately 6 pounds of Cannabis.
Arrested during the stop was Jason J. Ballard, age 31 of Peoria and Ryan C. Robinson, age 33 of Denver, Colorado.
Both were indicted in Federal Court on the charge of Possession with Intent to Deliver 50 grams or more of Methamphetamine.
The eight subjects with Federal Indictments are currently in the custody of the US Marshal Service.
Everett J. Humphrey was lodged in the Adams County Jail and is currently free on bail.
