UPDATE: 55-year-old dies following Schuyler County crash; name released


Updated July 6th at noon:

The 55-year-old has been identified as Martin D. Edwards of Rushville.

Edwards was originally taken to Culbertson Hospital in Rushville for treatment and then flown via helicopter to Memorial Medical Center in Springfield where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.

According to ISP Master Sergeant Jeff Schisler, the male has passed away.

The name of the individual has not been released yet, pending notification from the Schuyler County Coroner.


A vehicle was traveling eastbound on US 24 at Cedar Street in Rushville on July 5th shortly after 6 a.m.

The vehicle crossed into the westbound land continuing into the ditch before striking mailboxes and a power pole.

The vehicle came to rest on top of a driveway culvert.

The 55-year-old male driver, of Rushville, was taken to Culbertson Hospital.

Charges are pending investigation.
