McDonough County Sheriff Rick VanBrooker said they now have a 15-year-old teenager in custody after he lead law enforcement on a 3-county car chase.

The McDonough County Sheriff's Department was called out to West Prairie High School at 11:10 Tuesday morning. Authorities received reports of a West Prairie student throwing knives at other students feet.

VanBrooker said the teenager then stole a truck and lead law enforcement on a car chase across McDonough, Warren and Henderson Counties. Illinois State Police also joined the pursuit.

Both a Henderson and a McDonough County Sheriffs vehicle were damaged in the chase.

The young man was caught and taken into custody in a field four miles south of Monmouth.

West Prairie High School was a lock down during the incident.

No one was injured during the initial assault or following chase.
