A recent Harris Poll shows that over 73 percent of millennials and the younger generation Z agree that “government should provide universal healthcare.”

An astounding 49.6 percent prefer to live in a socialist country. The kicker? 67 percent of these young folks also want high earnings as a result of free enterprise.

So, young people want socialism AND free markets? These two terms are so opposite that it makes me wonder if the young folks polled are able to actually define the term “socialism.” This is deeply concerning because generation Z and millennials are expected to make up approximately 37% of the voting electorate in 2020.

Democratic Socialists such as Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Bernie Sanders are promising free education, free healthcare, and a disastrous “Green New Deal,” all at the expense of hardworking Americans.

Yet, these Democratic socialists turn a blind eye to examples of the destructive power of socialism in places like Venezuela where the rancid ideal of socialism has suffocated the South American country.

Here’s the bottom line: Government handouts are not actually free. It is our responsibility to continue educating younger generations on the real definition of socialism and its false utopian promises.
