President Trump’s 2020 budget proposal in one phrase? Fiscally responsible.

The president’s budget would cut $2.7 trillion of wasteful spending over the next 10 years, places an emphasis on strengthening border security, and includes money for workforce development programs that will bolster our economy. The president’s proposal would also balance the budget within the next 15 years—something that has not occurred since the 1990s.

This is a pragmatic, results-oriented budget proposal that includes some of the following:

    • $8.6 billion for the barrier at our southern border
    • Nearly $9 billion to implement laws that will allow veterans more choices in their healthcare
    • $330 million for the Justice Department to help fight the opioid crisis through “state and local efforts”
    • And $1 billion dedicated to increasing the supply of child care to those who need it

Of course, Democrats, bent on obstructing President Trump at every turn, are going to do all they can to not pass this sensible budget.

Here’s the bottom line: Opposition to the President’s 2020 budget proposal is opposition to fiscal responsibility and key national priorities. Hopefully, House Democrats are able to set aside their differences with President Trump for the benefit of the American people and pass this strong budget.
