Opinion: Democratic Party seems set on lurching to the left rather than winning in 2020

Some will argue that the crowded field of 2020 Democratic presidential hopefuls shows just how diverse the party is.

However, I believe that it illustrates how disorganized and rudderless the modern Democratic Party has become. The latest batch of entries into the Democrat primaries includes two governors: Jay Inslee of Washington and John Hickenlooper of Colorado. Many are, understandably, asking... "who?"

A candidate who could maybe pull together the scattered pieces of the Democratic Party is former Vice President Joe Biden. However, Biden’s moderate approach upsets those who insist on pulling the Democrats further to the left, such as Senator Elizabeth Warren and, of course, Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Biden has already faced the wrath of the far-left and was forced to apologize for simply calling Vice President Pence a “decent guy.”

Meanwhile, Warren, Senator Bernie Sanders and others on the left do have strong fundraising operations, but their radical ideas, such as the “Green New Deal,” would prove disastrous in a general election.

Here’s the bottom line: If I’m a Democrat, I’m praying that a common sense adult throws their hat into the presidential ring.

However, it seems that the Democratic Party is more set on tearing itself apart and lurching to the left rather than winning.
