Welcome to the 2008 KHQA Do or Die Bowl Website
For four years now, the Do or Die Bowl has served as a spotlight event for Tri State Prep Football. With the best seniors from both East and West of the Mississippi River for one last high school gridiron hurrah. For some, this game will be a stepping stone into a college career. For others, the Do or Die Bowl will mark the last time in their lives they ever strap on a helmet and play the game. More than that, however, this contest serves as a celebration of the sport itself. The young men who play it. And the coaches who groom them through sport to be successful members of society beyond the gridiron.
The 2008 Do or Die Bowl will be staged Saturday, June 28th at Flinn Memorial Stadium in Quincy, Illinois. Clark County's Matt Smith will serve as the head coach of the West Squad, comprised of schools from Northeast Missouri and Southeast Iowa. Macomb's Kelly Sears will lead the East Squad from West Central Illinois.
The game itself, a true labor of love, owes its success to many people. First and foremost: our sponsors, whose selfless patronage of high school sports allows the next generation of Tri State Doctors, Lawyers, Businessmen, Co-Workers and Neighbors a running head start into adulthood. Without them, this endeavor would never have come to fruition. A debt of gratitude as well to outgoing Quincy High Athletic Director Max Miller, who has been incredibly generous in helping us stage this game the last four years in such a phenomenal facility, and as well to Blue Devil Football Coach Rick Little and the QHS Booster Club for their hospitality. Also, my eternal thanks to the army of volunteers (referees, ground crew, chain gang, public address announcers, ticket takers) who do all the leg work to make this game come off so well. But mostly, our thanks to the players, coaches and fans who fight so hard to keep High School Football so vibrant in the Tri States...in this game and beyond.
Hope you can join us on June 28th to celebrate these fine young men.
Yours in Football,
Chris Duerr
