Holy Trinity's Mikaela Foecke has earned a roster spot on the U.S. Youth National Volleyball Team. The HTC junior-to-be and University of Nebraska-commit went through three rounds of national tryouts that concluded earlier this week in Anaheim. She received word of her selection on Tuesday and is one of just 12 players on the team's roster.
Foecke's next step will be training with the team in California for the rest of this week before heading to Thailand on the morning of July 21st in preparation for the 2013 FIVB U18 World Championships. Foecke's team will play its first match on July 27th.
A total of 20 teams from around the world have qualified for the bi-annual tournament, as the World Championships are grouped into four pools of five teams each. Team U.S.A. will compete in Pool C along with Brazil, the Dominican Republic, Algeria, and Slovenia.
